Today we were lucky enough to try out a Google Expedition at our school. They are virtual field trips run through the teachers tablet. Each student has a phone with the google cardboard over it. When the teacher sends out the images to the class, we were able to experience lots of amazing places. We swam with sharks, walked on the moon, and even climbed a mountain!
When we walked into class today, Mrs. Voye had us pull a slip of paper with an explorer's name on it. These would be our new groups. We discussed some things we thought we should research about our explorer. Then we went to work in computer lab. Later, we used the information to create a group flag that about our explorer. We need to have reasons why we picked certain colors and designs. We used the flag designer appspot to help with our creations. Then we shared our flag designs with the class.
Today we had our first Finger Flashlight Friday! We got to pick a place anywhere in the room and read with a special finger flashlight. Thank you to Head over Heels Teaching for the fabulous idea!
We read 2 different passages about spiders. Then we analyzed each author's viewpoint and provided evidence for our thinking. Then, we wrote about the similarities and differences between the two passages. We created artwork with different patterns inside a spider web.
